Top Ten Tuesday – Bookish Traits

April 18 – Things that will make me instantly want to read a book
–Be sure to check out http://www.brokeandbookish.com for upcoming and previous Top Ten Tuesdays!-

toptentuesday.jpgIn no particular order:

  1. The cover …
  2. And the title. Sometimes that’s all it takes you guys.
  3. I’m a sucker for books about ballerinas. I loved the show Bunheads, and was super upset that there’s only one season. I also love Dance Academy which is an Australian show on Netflix. It was really good. I love Dance Moms. Do you see a trend?
  4. I’m a sucker for books that have a character with anxiety or depression. Or that involves self-harm. For the longest time I never understood why I did it. So reading about it, kind of helped me understand. But I still can’t tell you why I self-harmed for years. Books haven’t been able to explain it too me either. But I like to try.
  5. Fairy tale Retellings. Simple.
  6. If certain BookTubers talk about it, with such love, I instantly want to look into that book and see what I think.
  7. If the main character’s name is Jessica. This never happens. I just want to read about what I would do. lol.
  8. Royalty. Reading about the different types of royalty that fantasy books have, appeal to me so much.

That’s all I can think of. Sorry guys!

    1. Yes! I just love books with ballet involved. It’s such a specific thing. Lol.
I also forgot to put things on my list like enemies to lovers romances, good world building, things like that.
I usually always want to re-write my post after I read everyone else’s!
      Thanks for commenting! πŸ™‚

  1. A nice cover is always a plus. I don’t think books on self-harm/mental illness will EVER truly explain why a person hurts theirself or how to properly cope, but I’m with you on that. They’re just intriguing and as corny as it sounds, makes me feel less alone even if it’s fiction.

  2. A good list! Have you read: Written in Red? Not sure you’d like it but the author used self harm in a fascinating way! You might like it for that reason. I was going to use it for one of my fictional jobs but then felt it may be offensive to those that self harm (as a job…) anyway that was the thought that came into my head from reading your post, lol… a good solid list that I agree with many…I didn’t think of royalty though… a good one!
